The Genjintch is a Tamagotchi that is a prehistoric caveman type pet. It was released in Japan in November of 1997. It was never released internationally. It was based on a current movie of the time called Peking Man. It came in only one shell design.
As a personal note, I and many collectors find the Genjintch incredibly annoying. It can be incredibly needy, and constantly calling for you. Be prepared if you run this one.

Startup
When you startup your Genjintch, you will see a character walking around on the screen. Press the B button to go to the time screen. Use the A button to set the hour. Use the B button to set the minutes. Press C when you have entered the correct time.
After a few minutes, your tama will hatch.
Status
The status menu will show you information about your Genjintch. You can see the age, weight, humger, happiness, and evolution.
Food
The food menu allows you to feed your Genjintch. The meal will fill one hungry heart. The snack will fill one happy heart.
Game
The game icon will let you play a game with your Genjintch. This is a simple guessing game, where you will choose which hole has the bone hiding in it. It is completely by chance. There is no trick to it. You will need to guess correctly at least 3 out of 5 times to win.
Toilet
Use this icon to clean up poop.
Praise
You need to praise your Genjintch, so that it becomes more civilized! You will hear an alert, and see your Genjintch making pottery. Praise it to raise its evolution. This is directly tied to which character you get.
Medicine
Your Genjintch can become sick. Use this icon to give it medicine and cure it. This can take multiple doses.
Light
Your Genjintch will need you to turn out the light when it goes to bed. Use this option to turn the light off. The light will automatically turn on when it wakes up.
Attention
When your Genjintch needs something, it will call for you, and this icon will light up.
Set clock
Hit the B button on the character screen to go to the clock screen. Press the A and C button simultaneously to enter the set time mode. Use the A button to set the hour, and the B button to set the minutes. Press C when you have entered the correct time. Press B to go back to the character screen.
Mute Sound
On the character screen, press the A and C buttons simultaneously. Press again the turn the sound back on.
De-Evolution
Unlike any other Tamagotchis, it is possible for your Genjintch to actually go backward on the growth chart. If you neglect your Genjintch enough during the teen or adult stage, it can actually devolve, and then take a few days of good care to evolve again.
